Guruvayur is one of Kerala's most important pilgrimage towns, and for many Malayali Hindu families a wedding in front of the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple is a cherished tradition. Ceremonies take place at the kalyana mandapams near the temple's eastern entrance, where many couples marry on auspicious days in short, back-to-back slots, so the reception and family functions usually move to an auditorium or hotel afterwards.
Guruvayur has its own railway station on a branch line from Thrissur, and Cochin International Airport is the usual airport for guests flying in. Streets near the temple get very crowded on auspicious days, so we plan drop-off points and guest movement in advance.
